This badge belonged to a UBoat veteran but unfortunately I know nuts about how to authenticate it. Hopefully you could help us.

I'm afraid this one doesn't look good. The very rough edges especially visible on the reverse and the wrong style of retaining clip suggest a cast reproduction.

I think many German veterans bought replacements for their lost badges not realising the replacements were copies.

This badge actually belongs to a Monsun UBoat man , Herr Arthur Baudzus, that I visited in Sydney.
