I found an old book at the Thrift store this weekend titled "SCOTLAND YARD".It was written by Sir Harold Richard Scott, G.C.V.O., K.C.B., K.B.E. who was the Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, 1945-53. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harold_Scott_(police_commissioner) It was published in 1955. It is a fascinating book that covers all sorts of topics abd has some great old pics. I have scanned a few for your viewing pleasure.

    Enjoy,

    Ed

    Ed,

Great photos. The one with the Commisioner and the Horse training were taken at Imber Court,Thames Ditton Surrey, very near to Hampton Court Palace. The Met still have the Mounted Branch Training facilities there.

The photo of the woman officer I think was taken at Regency Street,Victoria,SW1. This was a training facility now since sold.

The photo of the Dog Handler was taken at Keston,Kent. The Dog section training unit is still based here but is much changed. It opened in 1953 just in time for the publication of your book.

John Reginald Christie. If you have never seen it watch the movie "10 Rillington Place" starring Richard Attenborough and John Hurt. Actually filmed in Rillington Place where Christie commited his murders prior to it being knocked down. A truely chilling movie.
