It was awarded in two classes. It has disappeared from the Official Orders and Decorations Roster although it continues to be worn. Some documents and badges could be more accurately described as "Socialist Republic of Vietnam" (since 2 July 1976). Prior to this date it's the "Democratic Republic of Vietnam / North Vietnam" (1955-1976).
