muckaroon1960 Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 Just acquired this shell casing from a local car boot sale. 75mm diameter x 350mm high. Marked DIVES (3) 33.L. 1907.D Not sure of origin of this, DIVES sounds French? Does anyone have any idea?
muckaroon1960 Posted March 27, 2011 Author Posted March 27, 2011 DIVES shell casing 350mm high x 75mm dia. To clean or not to clean that is the question?
Tony Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Ln may be Parc d'Artillerie de Place de Lyon which makes the case French, they did like their quick firing 75. There is a place in France called Dives only it's a tiny village on the Somme. Apart from that I have no idea. Tony
muckaroon1960 Posted March 30, 2011 Author Posted March 30, 2011 Thanks Tony, just did some more research on the web and you are correct LN is for parc de artilleire Lyon. I have put this shell casing alongside my other ww1 and ww2 casings (uncleaned). I have a selection of British and German also as well as a 1970 US HEAT recoiless rifle round (complete).
