Its my pleasure to show a small tour through the Romanian Military Aviation Museum.

located in Bucharest, at Strada Barbu Vàcàscu

The nearest Metro (Underground) station, (10 mins walk) is the appropriately named

AUREL VLAICU station, which most people going to the museum will access via

    the central Metro PIATA UNIRIIstation.

My very first visit and some aircraft, Uniforms, Medals,Equipment

and other objects of interest can be found there.

    Gate Guardian.

You pass between these tall pillars and walk up the road to the main gates.

Do not be afraid of the street dogs who inhabit the Museum car park area

and even inside the Museum grounds.

Their bark is worse than their bite. :cheeky:

The main gate, as can be seen here the road has been opened to facilitate water pipe

replacement, dirty shoes for sure in wet weather. The small building to the left

houses a civilian security guard, he opens the gate then calls for the military

Guard Commander, who then escorts you to the main Museum building,

after that you are more or less free to wander around inside or outside amongst the exhibits.

The main building, a reception area inside the glass doors

and there was no Entry Fee :jumping: or Photographic Fee :jumping:

I went with my step-son Adrian and as the morning was still chilly

we decided to start the tour in doors first, a very nice lady accompanied us

at the start of the tour to explain some of the exhibits, but as soon as she

heard my son discussing aero engines and the principles of flight

and even though I was a foreigner, but had a good grasp of the Romanian medals

and Airforce insignia, she tended to let us wander around alone.

I suppose I better post a picture of an actual plane

or there might be a riot amongst the Aviation enthusiasts. :cheeky:

    Ok. Ok. I confess,

its not an actual plane, its one of only two 1:1 mock ups of the Romanian WW2 IAR 80

as no original examples remain in the world today.
