harribobs Posted January 15, 2006 Posted January 15, 2006 If anyone requires lookups in SDGW or ODGW (officers section) let me knowI also have a half decent ( ) database on the Manchester Regiments actions and battalions as well
Tony Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 A very kind offer.Would you mind looking up 7620 William John Hilleard of the Queen's (11th Battalion) please, he was killed near Hill 60 in July 1917. I have a bit of info on him but the SDGW CD might know something I don't.Then there's 2656 Pte. George Stevens also of the Queen's, killed on the Somme in Sept. 1916. Both men were from Bermondsey.CheersTony
harribobs Posted January 16, 2006 Author Posted January 16, 2006 not a lot more info then you already have, but here they are
Tony Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 Thanks a lot for that.I'll be in Ypres in a couple of weeks and will be going to the trench W Hilleard was killed in well, where the trench would have been anyway.Tony

harribobs Posted February 6, 2006 Author Posted February 6, 2006 hmm, not sure if this is good or bad news but your man isn't on the database as a casualty
Tony Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 That's strange, he's on the CWGC. Do you think they forgot all about him?Tony

harribobs Posted February 7, 2006 Author Posted February 7, 2006 Never mind. Do you have version 1 or 2 of SDGW?version 1, so it's possible he appears in the update
Martin21 Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 Tony,Have you managed to find anything more about Ralph Neal??What interests you about him?RegardsMartin21Chris,Can I trouble you again for a look up please?M1-6308 Private NEAL, RALPHASC50th Aux. Tony Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 Hello Martin,No I'm afraid not. My interest is that he lived not too far away from where I grew up (although he was on the wrong side of the river) and has my surname. I was also in the RCT (latter day ASC).Tony
Graham Stewart Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 The reason for him possibly not being found in SDGW is because he is recorded as dying in December 1918. A lot of units when compiling their books gave the cut off date as 11th November 1918. I have had similar problems with deaths in the Northumberland Fusiliers - they can be found in War Graves Registers but not in SDGW.
