Dieter3 Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 Pretty good shape, a few case abrasions, little spot stains on the wrapping paper, - but overall a nice piece:
drclaw Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 Very nice Dieter! Thanks for getting the Japan forum going again. It was getting very quiet. The silver of the medal is absolutely pristine. It could have walked out of the Osaka Mint yesterday.
Dieter3 Posted June 29, 2011 Author Posted June 29, 2011 Thanks! It's not perfect, but it's a pretty good one! I really wanted to have the wrapper, not all that common, so it was a good piece to acquire. I forgot to post it, here's the Osaka mint mark:
Dieter3 Posted September 25, 2011 Author Posted September 25, 2011 Here's another one, the wrapper with a different date than above, earlier production, Showa 5 compared to Showa 6. Anybody know the span of production for these? Rich, does any of your literature indicate? There don't appear to be any differences except for the date.
Ulsterman Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 uuummm..I've never heard of this medal? Is it for donations/work on the rebuilding of Tokyo after the earthquake?
Dieter3 Posted September 27, 2011 Author Posted September 27, 2011 Yes! For those that participated in (I'd imagine in a significant way) the rebuilding of Tokyo after the 1923 quake. They are really nice medals!
