Signalcorps45 Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 Hello to everyone, I am trying to find out what these are. I believe it to be a WWII US Brigadier General rank insignia. Does anyone have any information on this? Thank you for your help. Sorry for the blurry pics, I had to use a cellular phone to take the pics. Dean
Hugh Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 These are stars worn just above the stripes on a US Naval officer's uniform to designate a line officer. The German Navy wears a similar star. USN Staff corps wear varying versions of oak leaves to designate branch, i.e., Supply, Medical, Dental, CEC. They are worn by all officer ranks.
Signalcorps45 Posted August 16, 2011 Author Posted August 16, 2011 Hugh, Would you date this stars from WWII? Thank you for your help. Dean
Hugh Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Hugh, Would you date this stars from WWII? Thank you for your help. Dean Not necessarily. I wore stars just like that well into the '80's. The following site will show you other Navy branch insignia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Navy_officer_rank_insignia Best, Hugh
