Mark Schroeder Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 A company in sleepy little Attleboro Massachusetts named American Metal Crafts company was known for its premier military insignia. Among that insignia were the wings of the American aviator. AMCRAFT wings seem to have a personality all their own. Just different enough to allow for artistic license, they have become highly sought after by modern day collectors.
Mark Schroeder Posted January 23, 2006 Author Posted January 23, 2006 We will start with the pilot wing.
Mark Schroeder Posted January 23, 2006 Author Posted January 23, 2006 (edited) next up the wing of the Bombardier. The fletching on the wings stands out as well as the bomb device, which was seperately applied. Edited January 23, 2006 by Mark Schroeder
Mark Schroeder Posted January 23, 2006 Author Posted January 23, 2006 One of my personal favorites, the Glider pilot wing.
Mark Schroeder Posted January 23, 2006 Author Posted January 23, 2006 and of course, a Liaison wing, another favorite.
Mark Schroeder Posted January 23, 2006 Author Posted January 23, 2006 (edited) Notice the similiarity of catches on three of these wings. The one of the far left is brass, which probably means this is an pre or early war wing, before brass was needed for the war effort. Edited January 23, 2006 by Mark Schroeder
