Many South African officers purchased more expensive badges from badge manufacturers. This specific badge is solid and was not manufactured with lugs.

A silver officer's variation. It would appear as if the silver badges were more popular among the members of the 4th SA Infantry or SA Scottish Regiment.

1st Sai Inf Regt officer collar badges on a uniform in my collection. The issue type are much thinner than these solid officer private purchase variations.

2nd SAI Regiment officer collar badges

3 SAI Inf Regiment officer collar badges. Due to their disbandment in early 1918, any insignia to this Regiment is more difficult to find.

Hi, one suggestion is to look at Alec Kaplan auctions that run roughly every two or three months. They regularly have badges from these units offered. A search on Google should get you to their site.
