TacHel Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 I picked up this puppy this afternoon at a local gun show. I must admit at not knowing that much about it... Am I correct in my thinking it is a "silver medal for special distinction" as denoted by the rosette on the ribbon and the ladder behind the axes...??
Veteran Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 (edited) You are right. This is the first type. It is awarded to professionnal and volonteer civilian firefighters. And therefore neither to the Paris Brigade (who have military status) nor the Marseilles Naval Brigade. The "special services" medal now has a distinctive ribbon and slightly different design.
