Leclerc Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 Dear friends, Recently I acquired several Italian medals. I'm not an expert in this subject and would like to ask you about your opinion. Can you identify one of the following medals? Are there fakes among them? Thank you very much. Best regards, Peter
Leclerc Posted May 18, 2012 Author Posted May 18, 2012 One more, an Order of the Crown of Italy, commander grade: What do you think about the center medaillon? As I could see there are several variants of it. Is it possible to identify the maker and / or the date of manufacture of this model? There is a hallmark for silver on the ring. The gold finish has mostly passed. Thank you. Peter
Kev in Deva Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 Some of your medal items fall under the description of commemorative regimental medals and were of local manufacture to professional manufacture. Number 2 & 7 looks very dodgy, sand cast copies in my opinion. To my eyes the Order of the Crown looks ok. Kevin in Deva.
claudio2574 Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 The order of Crown is good for sure. No way to identify the maker, since almost any jeweler skilled enough could have done. This one looks late (XX century for sure, probably around 1930-1940) due to the material (gilt gone) and the reduced thickness of the Savoy node wire.
