Kev in Deva Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 Hallo Gents, Any information with regards this piece please? Left facing profile of King VITTORIO EMANUELE III Country of origin: Italy. Diameter: 32mm I did come across reference too the following:- Awarded to Italian troops that fought against the Ottoman Empire (Turkey) in the Libyan Campaign of 1911-12. It was also known as the Tripolitan War and was regarded by the Italian Government as a separate action during the Italo -Turkish War. The obverse is the same as the Italo Turkish War Medal. "The two medals have identical ribbons of blue and red stripes. The obverses are also identical, carrying the likeness of King Vittorio Emanuele III. " In the above described medal, the profile of King VITTORIO EMANUELE III is facing to the right. Kevin in Deva.
paul wood Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 3rd Attempt at trying to reply to this. In my opinion this is a somewhat later privately made piece quite possibly made to replace a lost original. Paul
