Jeremy Turner Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 I have had this badge for years but still cannot find it on google. What it is ... any ideas? thx ....
Taz Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 Welcome Jeremy, At first glance it looked like the Royal Devonshire Yeomanry Cap badge but the lion is facing the wrong way, maybe a collar badge? Regards Eddie
Jeremy Turner Posted September 6, 2012 Author Posted September 6, 2012 Thx Eddie ... It is 1.75" in height, bronzed chrome colour with 2 vertical lug pins on the back .... ... maybe not a cap badge, then ..... a collar badge?
Taz Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 Hi again, well i would say it's the left hand collar badge of the Royal Devonshire Yeomanry but that is only my humble opinion Regards Eddie
Mervyn Mitton Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 Jeremy - welcome to GMIC. I tend to agree with Eddie's description - the Crown is either for George 5th or, 6th.. The Crowned Lion is also used within a number of Police Forces. Mervyn
Jeremy Turner Posted September 8, 2012 Author Posted September 8, 2012 Thx Mervyn. I was told it was a police badge rather than a military badge ... any idea which UK force? Do we have a police badge specialist here? Thx in advance
Mervyn Mitton Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 Jeremy possibly one of the Midlands Police Forces - they seemed to like the Lion over Crown. Perhaps one of the Forces around Birmingham or, Liverpool. It is not a rank badge - more likely an officer's cap badge. Mervyn
