    Gentlemen,

For many many years I use this dagger as a letter opener.

I received it, against my mother's wishes, as a boy from an old uncle who (in good family tradition) was in the Merchant Navy.He had more stuff from Turkey and the Near East littering his place. He said then, it was a Russian dagger, part of a set of a Cossac. To my assumptions it dates before 1914 (as he retired in 1920).

Can any of you shine a light on the origine of this little dagger, please?

    Lenght over all:21,5 Cm

Length of the blade: 14 Cm

The iron is a sheet, with two scales of horn (dark colored bone?) attached as grips.

No marking, no decorations. just a solid piece of iron and very sharp after all these years of use.

Those daggers are called kindjals. They're the Cossack's traditional daggers.

    Sorry, that's all I can say ;)
