IrishGunner Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 Here are three Sachsen artillery NCOs. The center sergeant is from FAR 68 (a Sachsen regiment) and has two ribbons on his bar; I propose Friedrich August Medaille and EK2 (And of course, a black Verwundetenabzeichen) The sergeant on the right is from FAR 77 (another Sachsen regiment) and has three ribbons on his bar. I propose the first two are Sachsen, one probably the Friedrich August Medaille, the other I do not know. The third would be an EK2 with ribbon bar device. (And of course, a black Verwundetenabzeichen) The obergefreiter - can't determine his regiment - on the left has what appears to be only one ribbon; could be either Friedrich August Medaille or EK2. The photo was taken around 1921and they are brothers; their names are on the reverse. Any help with identifying the ribbons more precisely is appreciated...
Dave Danner Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 Most likely they are both Friedrich-August-Medaillen, one bronze and one silver. The only Herbert Hessel in the Verlustlisten was born on 1 October 1891 in Leipzig-Neustadt. There are several Alfreds, all Saxon natives.
