Jock Auld Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 Guys,I don't know if this is a restoration project or not. The frame appears correct with the locking nut at the handlebars.Someone was still using this until recently judging by the reflectors.Jock:)
Tony Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 I'd try to restore it if it was mine. I have 3 bikes, a modern one and 2 from the 1940s. Your one looks very much like one of mine which was made by Stricker in Bielefeld but then many bikes look similar. Any markings on it? Tony
Jock Auld Posted October 27, 2013 Author Posted October 27, 2013 Tony,In picture 2 directly under the seat mount on the frame running verticaly is a serial number I suppose, I haven't really looked it over, I have stuck it in the cellar as the weather is closing in over here. I will add it to the summer things to do list.Jock:)
Tony Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Yeah that's probably the frame number, if you can find the manufacturer's name you might be able to date it. The handle bars and dynamo might have the name of the company that made it, it's a shame the manufacturer's emblem is missing from the front of the frame and the front mudguard. I still use my bike but will talk to someone about having the frame sandblasted and painted, I might try the line painting myself and I already have copies or original transfers to replace the faded hand painted(?) ones. Tony
Jock Auld Posted October 28, 2013 Author Posted October 28, 2013 Tony,I might have a pop at it next summer, I suppose it is the closest I will get to owning a German Military vehicle!Jock:)
