Craig Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 Gents, I've had an 1887 Jubilee medal to a P.C R Rowther of W division. Does anyone have any information on him? Is it true that W Division at this time covered Norbury before the founding of Z and if so could it be possible P.C Rowther was posted here? Thanks in advance Craig
219PG Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Craig From 1865 Croydon and Addington were W Division. Z Division was created in February 1921. Thornton Heath Sub - Division covered the Norbury area until at the new station was built and occupied in 1925. Thornton Heath Sub - Division then became known as Norbury Sub - Division. I cant find your Pc Rowther at the moment - maybe Odin can? Alex
Craig Posted October 16, 2013 Author Posted October 16, 2013 Cheers Alex, I take it W was Wandsworth at this time? I would have thought for admin reasons it would have been Lambeth was L division going then? Craig
Odin Mk 3 Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Regret I can't find Rowther either - I tried the Discharge Registers without success. As it is an 1887 with no bar it may be that he left between June 1887 (Jubilee date) and March 1889 when the Discharge Registers start. I've never cracked how to identify the men who left in this period, other than those who died in service as they are listed in MEPO 4 / 2 (which covers to the end of 1889). I have checked and Rowther isn't in MEPO 4 / 2.
Craig Posted October 29, 2013 Author Posted October 29, 2013 Thanks for the help looks like I will never know if he worked at Norbury. Once again thanks for your hard work Craig
