Tony Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 a brooch or just an accessory for a between the wars follower of fashion? I've always thought of it as being a tie pin. Tony
Eric Stahlhut Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 what are the dimensions? to me, it looks like a wartime-era woman's brooch given in exchange for a donation towards the war effort.
Tony Posted December 29, 2013 Author Posted December 29, 2013 It's 45mm long, the EK is about 8mm square. Yes a brooch is quite possible, the colour resembles rose gold which was often seen in jewellery back then. Tony
Eric Stahlhut Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 well, neckties in the teens through ww1 ranged in width from 1.5 inches to 2.5 inches, and in the 20s through 30s they ranged from 3 to 4 inches, so it may be a bit small for a necktie worn during those eras
Tony Posted December 29, 2013 Author Posted December 29, 2013 Then a lady's patriotic accessory it is. I have a few pieces of patriotic jewellery so it fits in well with the other pieces. Tony
