Claudius Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 Here is an item that was part of a larger group of a uniform insignia and personal belongings. One item was identified as belonging to Hans Eggebrecht, a known Interpreter in Japan and later in China, and perhaps this was his Armband identifing him as a translator. I believe the black Chinese symbols translate to "Interpreter". The red ink stamp or Seal I believe the mark of the Chinese official that authorized/endorsed this office.
Claudius Posted January 10, 2014 Author Posted January 10, 2014 Close up of the Seal. (What does it say exactly?)
Claudius Posted January 10, 2014 Author Posted January 10, 2014 Interestingly, on the inside of the Armband it had this writing. I am really curious to know what this means. Why was it on the inside? Is the Armband reversible? Is it an old designation? Can anyone read that?

No one Posted December 3, 2023 Posted December 3, 2023 (edited) Dear Gentlemen, I think Jktu made a mistake reading the first kanji. This armband is linked to the Bandō prisoner-of-war camp: Bandō prisoner-of-war camp - Wikipedia Yours sincerely, No one Edited December 3, 2023 by No one
