Noor Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 Hello all, I have here one US Naval Academy belt buckle from circa 1900 period. This piece do not fit into my collection and therefore I would like to move it on. But can someone please help me with the information - how common/rare it is and what it can be worth aprox. Thanking you in advance, Timo aka Noor
Hugh Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 I graduated from the Naval Academy, and we had no such belt buckles then. I've never seen one. It looks like a swordbelt buckle. By my time, we were using the standard USN officer's belt/buckle. 1900 sounds about right for a date. The Academy was founded in 1845, and we surely wouldn't have started out with bling like that. Congratulations, Hugh
