Bernhard H.Holst Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 Hello Jock. Partial deciphering: In thankful remembrance of my co-worker and comrade who found a soldiers death a year ago near Petersburg. Cannot read the insertition below the Name Kittel. It is dated August 1942 so his comrade died in 1941. Bernhard H. Holst
Jock Auld Posted October 20, 2014 Author Posted October 20, 2014 Bernhard, Thanks for the translation, sometimes I can see it and others it is just impossible/incomprehensible. Another sad story then. I find quite often these blown up shots are taken from the postcard size pics to hang on the wall in memorium. I might re-frame him and put him on the wall. Jock
Bernhard H.Holst Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 Hello Jock. Framing it for yourself would be a very nice gesture. Honoring an ex-enemy even more so. Reading Suetterlin can be tiresome even for me who after all learned it in school for perhaps the first two or three years until it was replaced nation wide .. Individual handwriting has a lot to do with the reading difficulty level. Bernhard H. Holst
