Naxos Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 This sabre is in my family for generations. It looks like a M1811, but the bottom on the sheet is different. the only marking that I can find is the number 19 on the hilt. Thanks, Hardy[attachmentid=30627]
Guest Rick Research Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 The drag on the bottom of the scabbard has simply been worn away-- or somebody "neatened it up" by grinding it down from...dragging on the ground.I don't think I've ever seen one with only ONE marking--these old wrist-breakers were STILL being handed out to 3rd line units in WW1-- 100 years of use = they sure were a bargain when they were first ordered!!!!
