74Squadrongirl Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 Ouch! http://www.kentonline.co.uk/tenterden/sport/spitfire-crash-lands-in-field-42807/
Tony Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 I wonder how often they come down due to engine failure. I'd like to see one flying, one flew over work a few years ago but not at the time it was supposed to so I missed it, although that was a locally made replica instead of an original.I get annoyed if someone bashes the car with a shopping trolley so I bet the pilot must be very cheesed off at the mo but it could have been much worse.Tony
74Squadrongirl Posted September 8, 2015 Author Posted September 8, 2015 (edited) Could have been a lot worse, but I still could have cried when I saw the pictures! I love spitty's(obviously given avatar etc) lucky here in the east of England get to see them flying fairly regularly, never fails to get the heart pounding a bit faster! 74Squadrongirl Posted September 8, 2015 Author Posted September 8, 2015 I used to live in the home town of that brewery, Spitfire is a very nice pint
The Prussian Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 (edited) One pint is good, a few are much better... Edited September 8, 2015 by The Prussian
74Squadrongirl Posted September 8, 2015 Author Posted September 8, 2015 Yep looks like you enjoyed a few pints, had a good time? Alli
The Prussian Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 (edited) Oh yes, it was a wonderful weekend! I hope I´ll back in Kent soon!We visited "Old steel" in Ashford too and had very nice weather in Dover! Edited September 8, 2015 by The Prussian
74Squadrongirl Posted September 8, 2015 Author Posted September 8, 2015 Fantastic! Dover Castle is one of my favourite places, have a photo of me somewhere sitting on one of those AA gunsAlli
The Prussian Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 Oh yes, I enyoed the day. Dover Castle was very impressive to me!
74Squadrongirl Posted September 8, 2015 Author Posted September 8, 2015 It's beautiful and unique in having such a very, long history. My granddad was stationed there for a while in WW2. I notice the AA guns have a barrier round them now, hopefully not just because I sat on one! Alli
The Prussian Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 Well i don´t know, when they were fenced in, I´ve been there in december 14
74Squadrongirl Posted September 8, 2015 Author Posted September 8, 2015 Well I last visited in about 2011 but I was climbing on the guns about 10 years before that. Probably a good job to preserve them instead of allowing fools like me to ruin them!Alli
The Prussian Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 Haha, I don´t think that climbing on them could ruin them... solid british war construction!
