    I've inherited a collection of medals from a family member. 

    but one medal im great having great difficulty identifying is the one pictured below 

     

    can anyone help

    Some basic information on possible recipients would help.  It looks European as opposed to British but given the rather odd colour scheme could be an award from a fraternal or religious order, so any info. at all on who or where it came from might help.

    It was awarded to

    ROBERT EDMONDSON,

    Bombardier,   ROYAL ARTILLERY 1937

    then went on to serve for the Parachute 2 Regiment

    I've been informed that the medal is in fact an:

     

    Order of victory

    Inter Allied Military Organisation (I.M.O.S)  SPHINX

    medal awarded by the the French Chapter of IMOS

    now the history lesson begins
