Constantine S Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 I obtained this several years ago from an Eastern European seller with no background at all about it. I thought it might be connected with Eastern Orthodox or some sort of award. I've been told by several Masonic appraisers it is not Masonic. I've seen this particular double-headed eagle before somewhere, but no longer have a clue where. Thanks for any help no matter small or hunch. All suggestions and referrals welcome.
Claudius Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 Hello Constantine S; Welcome to GMIC. I'm sorry if this sounds blunt -but your piece looks very crude for either Imperial Russian or Masonic. And the tip of the star that connects the piece to the ose is very thin. I doesn't look like it would hold up under any strain. This piece might be what is called a "fantasy" medal. Made from assembling separate motifs into a single piece. But maybe someone else may have seen something like this and can comment further on it.
