Unknown Bullion British Cap Badge

This is really not my area of interest but I bought this bullion cap badge not knowing what it was, I just thought it was aesthetically pleasing with its design and bullion thread.  Does anyone know if it is military or civilian? I could not match it to a Royal Navy.

Hi John,

this is actually not a cap badge but the arm badge of a colour sergeant in the Royal Marines, worn above three golden stripes on a red backing on the right arm only on No.1 Dress. A nice badge and fairly hard to find!
