Hungarian Sailor in the Kaiserliche Marine?

An interesting postcard: a German sailor, on the cap tally can be read the name of his ship: SMS BERLIN. The postcard was made in Hamburg.

However, the card was written on Hungarian language. The adress is Mágocs, a village in Hungary, Baranya county. According the wiki, the inhabitants of the village were Germans (cca. 78%).

The name of the sender: Dani(el) Tillschmeister(?). 

Was it common, that Austro-Hungarian citizens were served in the German Armed Forces during the WWI?

There were large numbers of Hungarian sailors with various merchant ships as Fiume was a major port with a large Hungarian population (several members of the Carpathia's crew (the ship which rescued survivors of the Titanic) were registered in Fiume). It is conceivable that he was on a merchant ship in a German port at the outbreak of hostilities and therefore joined the Kriegsmarine

We know that at least one Austrian from Braunau am Inn joined the German army.
