Guest Rick Research Posted May 12, 2005 Posted May 12, 2005 Just thought I'd post this for a recent "living recipient" Commonwealth group. The ribbon bar was worn by my South Australian friend Garry in Vietnam 1967-68, and the early 1980s minis date from his service wth the Australian Federal Police-- a 15 years service National Medal in the center.I confess that the recent spate of Australian awards, which seem to simply duplicate previous wartime service medals, leaves me baffled.
Gerd Becker Posted May 14, 2005 Posted May 14, 2005 Nice. Interesting construction of the mini group.Gerd
Brad Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 I confess that the recent spate of Australian awards, which seem to simply duplicate previous wartime service medals, leaves me baffled. It did me, too, Rick until I was told that the original medals issued were British medals (such as the Queen's Korea medal and the Queen's Vietnam medal) whilst the new issues are presented by the Australian Government. As a collector of Australian medals, however, it means that all of my modern groups are now down some medals and are, essentially, broken groups.Cheers,Brad
