Sampo Posted November 1, 2017 Posted November 1, 2017 Gentlemen, I found a French medal in a Dutch soldiers group. But I cannot find any information on this one. It is probably received for service during world war 2, but unknown to me. Does anyone can help me out? Sampo
Megan Posted November 1, 2017 Posted November 1, 2017 To which French medal do you refer? (There are 2 on the bar.) I take it you mean the last one, which is probably one of the quasi-official ones the French are very fond of, the wording of which suggests an organisation working with prisoners of war providing education/welfare services. The other, on the white ribbon with tricolour edge, is the Médaille de la Reconnaissance Française in silver (Medal of French Recognition) awarded for services to war casualties.
Sampo Posted November 6, 2017 Author Posted November 6, 2017 Hi Megan, Yes I am reffering to the last one in the row. I would like to know what it was given for and from which organisation it is, I have never seen one like this before, and as the Dutch are not very admissable granting the acceptance of foreign medals, I got curious about this one.
