Tony Posted August 2, 2018 Share Posted August 2, 2018 (edited) Is this a French 1847 bayonet and can anyone shed some light on the markings shown in the attached photos? Perhaps they’re just acceptance marks. Thanks for any help. Edit: don't know why the markings have come out sideways but it shows LJ and a B underneath. peter monahan Posted August 19, 2018 Share Posted August 19, 2018 Not my field at all, but apparently Steyr of Austria produced 200,000 Gras bayonets for the French Army, so my guess is that the 'B' indicates 'Bayonne' [ie: French made] and LJ the initials of the company.
