Jack Hickman Posted November 29, 2019 Posted November 29, 2019 I acquired a 14.5" "Talabot" knife/sword a short while ago and am curious about it. As far as I can tell it's french, possibly from the 1800's. The blade is stamped with a running zebra, under which appears "Talabot", and under that is stamped "16449". It has a 6" wooden handle with 3 pins and 3/4 tang. I'm guessing (?) that this was military issue (?) from the WW-1 time frame (?). The vendor knew nothing about its provenance.
pat66 Posted November 30, 2019 Posted November 30, 2019 hello, TALABOT was (is?) known like french tool maker, especially (hammer, machete, knife for spécific works and others. The running zebra stamped was something like insigna because TALABOT export many many products in french black Africa. that's what j think and can write with my poor english. best regards, pat66
