Christian L Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 perhaps fantasy - or perhaps one of those commemorative awards of cossack associations which are even now around in a huge number.christian
Wood Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 (edited) You mean enough survived the post war purges!Pete Edited May 1, 2006 by wood
Christian L Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 don't know the exact numbers, but many survived and live now in the area the communist brought them to or in their original regions.still today many cossacks are proud of their history in the way of seeing themselfs as true soldiers. so even nowadays new cossack associations getting formed (many have less than 100 members) - as many want to be some kind of chief the associations are more a family and friend association. as they wear uniforms they also issue medals (its some kind of "family-army" they creat) everything is totally inofficial - but still beeing done.a very interesting area to get researched but russian language is NEEDED (and as i don't have any russian language skills, for me this subject is something i get from the 2nd but not the "frist-hand")christian
