I am just wanting to see if this medal is genuine or not as can't find his number and name on any medal roles

The medal is an original medal, sometime lacquered

 

Sadly the original naming has been erased and the medal renamed in a contemporary engraved style, and not in the style always associated with Egypt medals award to the Gordon Highlanders
