Is this a real Southern Cross Decoration or a fake ??

Hi,

 

I found this medal being offered for sale and somehow it just doesn't feel right with me.

 

Looking in my Matthyssen 'A guide to South African Military Awards' (recommended for all South Africa collectors) there are 4 types of this medal.

Type 1 has a S.A.M. hallmark. 

Type 2 has SILVER under coat of arms.

Type 3 has 925 mark at bottom.

Type 4 has SILVER at bottom.

 

This one has none of these markings (also no name or number) - SO, is this a unlisted version or a FAKE ???

What bothers me the most is the strange shape of the tail of the cross.

 

Any opinion, thought or real information welcomed.
