Marcon1 Posted August 8, 2023 Posted August 8, 2023 Hiya, Found this interesting bit on the net. The Chamber of Mines’ Bronze Medal – the Miner’s Victoria Cross In 1916 the Chamber of Mines instituted Merit Awards to men who had been instrumental in saving the life of others. There are four main classes: Meritorious Conduct and Actions Bravery Outstanding Bravery Bravery of the Highest Degree The last category is the one for which the Chamber of Mines bronze Medal is awarded. This is often called the “Miner’s VC”, and has been presented very sparingly (not much more than 100 times) with some 15% of these being posthumous awards. ---- Does anyone know what the other awards where, i.e. scroll, money, medal etc. It does not appear to have been issued with a ribbon. regards, Marcon1.
