archie777 Posted April 17 Author Posted April 17 Hi Marcon1, I have most of them, but that information is on my laptop and I have to print a book for my collection, before I can get it out for publication. Is this your medals, of only your pictures? Thanks for letting me know Regards Archie
Marcon1 Posted April 18 Posted April 18 Hi Archie, A few my own, the rest just pictures i gathered through the years for my own information. I wish I had them, but it's almost impossible to buy them these days at normal prices. Ebay is way to expensive - both in prices and postage. I used to buy a lot of SA medals (Incl. homelands and SWA) on BidorBuy (BoBshop) but most sellers these days will not send items through SAPO International Mail (which always took 3 to 3,5 months to arrive in The Netherlands - talk about snail mail !!) and SAPO is now bankrupt and having the medals send by courier is to expensive. You buy a medal for R150 and you have to pay R500+ for shipment - that is more than they are worth. And if that is not annoying enough, EU rules changed last year on small parcels being send from outside the EU and PostNL (because of customs) will now intercept all parcels and ask for declaration of contains (value) so that they can get money out of me = 21% of the value (tax) + a handling fee. Which makes it even more expensive. So my collecting is on a hold right now. Marcon1.
archie777 Posted April 18 Author Posted April 18 Hi Marcon1, You can send me an email, if you're interested, then I will share the details of a friend of mine, who helps me for the past 39 years He designed all SAPS and Munisipality Police Awards in SA When I buy stuff from the US or UK, I normally use DHL, because its the safest way l, despite the shipping costs Otherwise, the seller ship to a friend of mine, in the US or UK and the I wait until somebody comes to SA and bring it with I get most of my USSR stuff from friends who stay there and work with my other friends in Iraq. Got a parcel 2 weeks ago from Georgia in Europe I would love to get clearer pictures of some of those you've sent, if possible. If I may add those that I don't have yet, in my book I will try to cover Transkei DF, PS and Police today, with the pictures and drawings that I have Regards Archie
