Did EVERYTHING from Transkei come in 2 types - 1976-1987 and 1988-1994?

Even more stuff to try and track donn.

 

Did they issue any documentation about their awards, regulations, that sort of thing?

Hi Megan,

 

Yes for both the Transkei Police & Prisons, they have 2 different series of awards

 

I will check in my files tomorrow, regarding the Republic of Transkei Government Gazettes and will let you know

 

I even have a copy of a letter from the Transkei Police Commissioner, regarding a 25th Anniversary Medal that was in the planning

Many years ago I send you a lot of pictures of GB and you have my name in the acknowledgement list there (2nd. name).

 

Archie, the pictures you have of the Transkei Prisons Service Medal for Faithful Service (20 years) - Silver is of the medal I have now in my collection. 

I bought it from BidorBuy (BoBshop) for R 1130 (includes postage).

I missed out on many great medals on BOB.

My motto is, firstly get a medal without a ribbon or wrong ribbon, then search for tge correct ribbon

Not much references that I have for the Transkei Prisons awards in the "First Series" and "Second Series".

 

Both Transkeian Prisons Medals for Faithful Service (Silver) for 30 years and (Bronze) for 18 years walere approved by the Cabinet of Transkei on 3 January 1972, but were only manufactured in 1982.

 

As for all other awards manufactured for the "Second Series", no records could be found except for the Art Carts from the State Heraldry. Those will also appear in my book
