Benemerenti medals

Hello everyone
I have recently dedicated the collection exclusively to pontifical medals and have built up a little collection, here I have some benemerenti medals, with a sequence of Popes:
Pius IX (1846-1878), Silver
Leo XIII (1878-1903), Bronze and Silver
Pius X (1903-1914), Silver
Benedict XV (1914-1922), Silver and Gold
Pius XI (1922-1939), Silver

It really is an unknown area for most, despite having the advantage of many medals available on the market, it is frustrating that there is little information in general about them.

About the only documentation is Hyginus Eugene Cardinale's book Orders of Knighthood, Awards, and the Holy See - and that is not particularly detailed (I have a copy tucked away). Yet another area I really ought to get up on my website!

I've already seen some pages of this book, overall it's very good, as for your website, it would be great to include the pontifical medals! I used it many times to identify medals I didn't know about.
