How are the service summary entries meant to be read?

 

 

In the above example, does the 8.14 date indicate the beginning or the end (or something else) of their time on the SMS Wörth?

The date indicates the beginning of the service.

The first service does not have a date because it indicates that the service was at or before outbreak of war.

 

on the last service it is often mentioned "bis Ende" (until the end) of war.
