ChrisKelly Posted February 15 Posted February 15 Preserved properly, displayed properly, further corrosion shouldn't be a problem. I'd leave them alone. Application of anything on the core of those Iron Crosses could cause what's left of the black finish to flake off.
ChrisKelly Posted February 16 Posted February 16 Never tried mineral oil. I'm not sure how well that would preserve what's left. It might, but it won't remove corrosion and rust that's already there. Those are nice strikes, those medals. I'd get a "beater" on which I could experiment... An "expendable" so to speak.
