Eiserne Wehr Posted March 4 Posted March 4 Does anyone have information about this Fort, it has been noted as being Fort Carnot and described as being in Darvoy, France. Yet i can't find any information about this particular Fort. I own three Photographs(none of the above) of this Fort and one of the Photographs is of a soldier serving in Amierungs-Battalion 121. I can't find the history of this Battalion either.
Schießplatzmeister Posted March 4 Posted March 4 Hello, I believe that Carnot may refer to the type of fortification and not the actual name of the fort. There were apparently several fortifications in the Darvoy area and not all of them have survived to this day. So, discovering exactly which fortification this was may be somewhat difficult. Congratulations regarding owning these nice photos. Best regards,
Eiserne Wehr Posted March 5 Author Posted March 5 I do not own the first five photographs shown above, they went for crazy prices. One of the photographs i do own is this one. The back reads: Das Fort Carnot in dem wer von 8-11 8. 17. einquartiert waren. Fort Carnot in which we quartered during august 8th-11th 1917.
