Guest Rick Research Posted July 2, 2006 Posted July 2, 2006 This original postcard sized photo has long bugged me... if ONLY he'd been wearing his ribbon bar!!! Wearing late-war subdued colar patches... Commander grade Friedrich Order X and only the EK1 visible.[attachmentid=45699]He is not shown in von Moser's "Die W?rttemberger im Weltkrieg." I'm guessing that, dressed as he is here, this was taken DURING the war, rather than afterwards when wearing a uniform was a "dress up" not "dress down" matter for retired officers.
Daniel Murphy Posted July 2, 2006 Posted July 2, 2006 It is a shame you can't ID him. That look in his eyes makes me think he was a real tough opponent. Good uniform shot. I had the chance to buy one just like it that belonged to Duke Albrecht of Wurttemburg and had to pass on it as it was rather expensive. It was $3500 when normal feldgrau uniforms were $500. I wish now I had just sold some things and gotten it.Dan Murphy
Guest Brian von Etzel Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 Interesting, focused gentleman. Hope he gets a name.
