The Power of the Internet

Michael Johnson

While researching a Metropolitan Police 1902 Coronation, I found and contacted the recipient's great-grand-daughter, who has her own blog on this man. I decided to offer to sell it back to the family, as I already have several of that medal. Her response was amusing:

Thank you for your offer. I would be happy to buy the medal at the price you quote. My husband is wary about me buying from someone over the internet so I googled you and see that you are a leading light in your church in Oakville, which has helped reassure him

Sometimes virtue is not its only reward.

Unfortunately (perhaps some would argue rightly so) people always seem suspicious of good intentions. The internet is always decreed as a foreboding place for the unwary and although there are a lot of charlatans they are the minority with the majority of folk being honest and open.

I have to agree with Nick - most people are just themselves. The main problem with the web

is that you rarely get to know in person the ones from overseas.

If you're a 'leading light' - does that mean you are allowed to carry the collection plate............

In this case it means I reach adult catechism. I keep trying to train my converts to take over from me, but it never seems to work.
