Allan Posted September 3, 2005 Posted September 3, 2005 Picked this up last week, a bargain.I think it is an early 1st pattern. The pin and catch set up look familir. No silvering, but a lot of character I think.Allan
Gordon Williamson Posted September 3, 2005 Posted September 3, 2005 The fittings are exactly identical to those used by Meybauer (L/13) but the obverse characteristics differ a little from the standard Second Pattern Meybauer. Wouldn't be surprised if it was their First Pattern though. Either way, its one I haven't seen before. I think you picked yourself up a rare bird there, and from what you told me, at a very nice price! Congrats.
Biro Posted September 3, 2005 Posted September 3, 2005 Allan/GordonThe only time I've seen anything remotely resembling your one is this offering a while back by Kai Winkler.... they are VERY similar but you'll note the '3's are distinctly different. It would be nice to know there is another variation around - but I don't know what to make of the subtle difference between yours and Winklers.... and if indeed Winklers is good.It CERTAINLY looks the part...Marshall
Allan Posted September 3, 2005 Author Posted September 3, 2005 Gordon/Marshall,Thanks for your comments. It certainly appears to be a good buy at a great price. I looked through every reference book I have Marshall and couldn't find a match. Well done. Its always difficult when something unusual turns up and you can't refer it to any authenticated example.I think the quality on the one I posted is very good.Allan
