Tiger-pie Posted May 21, 2007 Posted May 21, 2007 Never one to hide myself away, here are a few of my bits and pieces... Long service medal.Regards;Johnsy
Tiger-pie Posted May 21, 2007 Author Posted May 21, 2007 AASM (Australian Active Service Medal) with Clasp "East Timor".
Tiger-pie Posted May 21, 2007 Author Posted May 21, 2007 Reverse of the INTERFET medal showing the engraving. You will note that the Service No. is different. I received this medal before we changed to a new numbering system, which will probably give future collectors a headache when they obtain groups with more than one number. Even harder if they have to track down split groups. The "S" prefix indicates that I am a technical rating, an "R' prefix is what all the other sailors get, or more to the point, got.

Tiger-pie Posted May 21, 2007 Author Posted May 21, 2007 Last, and least in my personel estimation is this pitiful piece of sh#te they slung at us. May as well have put a riband onto a coin...
Tiger-pie Posted May 21, 2007 Author Posted May 21, 2007 These next two shots show how the plating has ruined the detail below.
Tiger-pie Posted May 21, 2007 Author Posted May 21, 2007 The engraving is neat but has a very rough feel to it as if it was never properly finished.
Tiger-pie Posted May 21, 2007 Author Posted May 21, 2007 And finally, the good lookin' rooster that I am, just after I received it. Not sure if the look on my face is disgust or indigestion from all the biscuits I ate at the presentation... Regards;Johnsy
David S Posted May 21, 2007 Posted May 21, 2007 Thanks for the GREAT pics ps - It's probably the biscuits
Tiger-pie Posted May 21, 2007 Author Posted May 21, 2007 Thanks for the GREAT pics ps - It's probably the biscuits No problem, I will post some more bits and pieces here soon. I don't have anymore gongs to post, but I have a few badges that may be of interest to those who like modern groups.Regards;Johnsy
Ed_Haynes Posted May 21, 2007 Posted May 21, 2007 Nice ones, Johnsy! While some may differ, I like the current Australian medals. Thanks for posting.
Guest Rick Research Posted May 21, 2007 Posted May 21, 2007 Nahhhh: too flat. Nice ribbons though. Sew-on bar: brilliant. Sooooo, why isn't your group mounted up? THINK of future collectors!
