Sorry, I didn't realize you were answering Rick's question. Are larger ribbon bars, like the one I posted, pinned on, or sewn on to the tunic? What would the back of a ribbon bar with 8 ribbons look like?

Most of YU ribbon bars are sewn on with backing. Here are two more unusual ones:

partial backing (a bar from UNEF member): averse

Thanks for showing these different types. First British-style pin-backs, and then American-style clutch-backs. Odd that the full size medal ribbons should be Soviet-style-- I guess that included everybody!!!
