Jim P Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 Hello all, I have finally learned exactly what this insignia is and that it is a very rare item to find.I would have to agree about it being rare,as I could not find one like it any where, as a reference, or for sale.My problem is that altough it is one of the most beautiful, finely detailed cloth items I have ever owned or handled,it does not fall into my areas of interest. I am looking to trade or sell it,but don't know where to start, because this is a very uncommon item for an uncommon collecting area(to me anyway).I have only 1 price reference from the sale of one in the past, and have no idea what it may be worth now.I am now awaiting a reply from the only collector I know to have a big interest in this area of militaria thanks to a friends advice.I really need to know what a fair value might be,or at least a second opinion, and how I should proceed with finding a collector for this area.Any and all opinions, thoughts,or advice are very much appreciated.Respectfully, Jim P
Jim P Posted December 23, 2005 Author Posted December 23, 2005 Any thoughts what so ever will be appreciated.Jim
Scowen Posted December 23, 2005 Posted December 23, 2005 Sorry, can't help I'm afraid. Cloth is totally out of my area to start with, let alone something so specialised Hope some one can help you.CheersDon
Jim P Posted August 14, 2006 Author Posted August 14, 2006 Thought I would bubp this back to the top and see if any of the new members have any ideas. Thanks,Jim
Scowen Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 As we now have a new specific youth section, I thought I'd move your thread Jim, hopefully you'll get a reply here.CheersDon
Bob Coleman Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 Jim-The Ges Gesch mark is not something one would expect to find on a BDM item. I have seen a couple other identical patches to yours in the past few years. Several were sold on Manion's site. It is my understanding that these are reproduction items. An unissued example of HJ/BDM cloth should have a RZM label attached to the item.
Jim P Posted August 17, 2006 Author Posted August 17, 2006 Thanks for the insight Bob.The only examples that I had been able to find were all hand embroidered. Was there ever a bevo weave example of this insignia?I had really held out hope for this one, because the workmanship is excellent, not what you would expect from a repro. Thanks again,Jim
