GreyC
Hi, as I collect German CDV´s I got this one recently. On the back it says in relatively new hand Danish Life Guard. However the photo was taken at a studio in Altenberg in Saxony in the late 1870s, early 1880s. There is plenty of info on the studio available, but why should a Danish Life Guard have been photographed so far from home? A royal visit, perhaps? Or is it not a Danish soldier and he is from a different army? The bear skin cap seems to indicate Danmark, though. Can anybody help ID the nationality and unit of this chap, please? The shoulderboard shows a crown and a cipher. Thank you! GreyC Edited May 13, 2018 by GreyC
