Peeking Out Of Pockets
This Fahnenjunker-Gefreiter from Pioneer Battalion 9 is wearing his Iron Cross 2nd Class ribbon in about as small a way possible-- peeking out from the buttonhole of his chest pocket flap.
For similar wear, see the scans "Any Which Way..." and "Weimar Weirdness."
I have never found anything which AUTHORIZED wear of ribbons in this fashion, but then during the war pockets were a non-regulation, personalized-- and highly individualistic-- tunic embellishment, anyway.
